We asked 50 learners about their future plans after qualifying: here’s what they said
At Eagle, we’re always inspired by the aspirations and ambitions of our learners. To get a sense of what’s next for them, we asked 50 learners a simple yet powerful question: What are your future plans once you’ve completed your qualification? Their answers highlight a wide range of exciting goals, from career advancement to further education. Here’s a snapshot of their dreams and ambitions.
Climbing the career ladder
Many learners expressed a desire to advance in their current roles or secure promotions:
“I’m hoping to get a promotion in my current job. I may take tax exams in the future, but who knows!”
“Seek promotion, or potentially move abroad.”
“Gain CPD points and hopefully move into a higher role (salary and responsibility).”
“I’d like to become a financial controller.”
“I want to continue growing my finance career.”
Pursuing further qualifications
A significant number of learners plan to build on their qualifications to deepen their expertise:
“Currently I am finishing my AAT Level 3 and intend to progress into Level 4. I’m working as an accounts assistant currently, and my studies through Eagle are helping my career progression.”
“Continue to study ACCA.”
“I plan to continue with Eagle and study CIMA.”
“Once I complete my AAT Level 4, I may consider ACCA or ACA in the future.”
“Study an MBA and continue to climb the career ladder.”
“Learn CTA.”
Entering new roles
For some, their qualifications represent a stepping stone to new and exciting roles:
“I want to transition to finance.”
“Start a professional career in accountancy.”
“Work as a bookkeeper or finance officer in the charity sector.”
“I want to become a Big Four auditor.”
“I’m currently a finance analyst in the automotive industry, but I’d like to develop into a chartered accountancy role.”
Taking a balanced approach
Others spoke about taking time to focus on their work or explore their options:
“Once I have completed AAT Level 4, I will likely take a break from studying and focus on gaining more experience.”
“Taking a break to focus on my work. Might get back to studying CIMA in some years.”
Long-term aspirations
Several learners shared ambitious long-term goals:
“I’d like to become FC.”
“Become an auditor.”
“My goal is to apply the skills and knowledge I’ve gained to advance in my career and continue developing professionally.”
“Self-employed and travel.”
“To pursue a master’s degree.”
Starting out
Some learners are at the beginning of their journey and excited about their next steps:
“I have recently completed my AAT Level 2 and have moved on to Level 3. Completing my AAT Level 2 gave me the confidence to start applying for accountancy roles, and I have successfully secured my first role in accounting!”
“After completing Level 2, I secured a job as an accounts assistant at an accountancy firm who are funding Level 3 and 4. My overall goal is to become an accountant.”
“Do AAT Level 3.”
It’s clear that Eagle learners have diverse and inspiring plans for the future. Whether they aim to deepen their expertise, climb the career ladder, or embark on entirely new paths, their determination shines through. At Eagle, we’re proud to support them every step of the way as they turn their ambitions into reality.
