AAT stands for the Association of Accounting Technicians. AAT accounting qualifications are globally recognised, and offer strong job prospects in a range of industries. You don’t need any previous qualifications or accountancy experience to begin studying AAT. This makes it one of the best accounting qualifications for career changers and school leavers. Once qualified, you could earn up to £37,000 within a few years of qualifying.
Eagle is an AAT-approved training provider. We have been supporting students in gaining their AAT qualifications with affordable courses for nearly 20 years. The Distance Learning study method is more flexible and cheaper than classroom study. It also allows you to study around family, work and other life priorities.
“I can’t thank my mentor at Eagle enough for the personal support she provided me with during what was an incredibly challenging time in my life!”
All three AAT accounting qualifications are included in the subscription. Content is always available and always up to date, so you can refer to previous subjects and recap whenever you need to.
Our courses help you develop the knowledge and skills required to become an AAT Accountant (MAAT). After completing Level 4, you can progress to the chartered accountant qualification ACCA.
Full AAT training from Level 2 to 4 typically takes 2-3 years to complete with consistent studying. Level 2 is considered the easiest and equivalent to a GCSE. Level 4 is the most difficult level and is equivalent to the first year of an accounting degree.

Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
This is the entry point for most people who are at the beginning of their accountancy journey. This course includes two Bookkeeping units required for the Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping
Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
You can start at this level if you’ve completed the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. You may also be eligible to start at this level if you’ve worked in an accounting or bookkeeping role. This course includes two Bookkeeping units required for the Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping. We would recommend doing these as part of a full AAT Level 3 qualification, however, these modules can be studied separately.
Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting
You’ll need to complete the Level 3 Diploma before starting this level. You may be exempt from some units if you’ve studied a finance or accounting degree. On passing AAT Level 4, you will get exemptions from the ACCA Applied Knowledge subjects, CIMA Certificate Level, and the ACA Certificate Level subjects (excluding Law), to fast track your journey to chartered status.
With a subscription to one of our online accounting courses, you can decide how much you want to study, and when. You’re in control. Study fast or take your time. You can self-study AAT, but you will also have a mentor to help and guide you through the order of subjects to study in and check that the level you’re starting at is right for you.
