For Finn Jones, studying ACCA isn’t about becoming a traditional accountant. It’s about building the financial foundation he needs to confidently start and run his own business one day. With a strong interest in entrepreneurship and a desire to stay financially independent, Finn turned to Eagle to help him make it happen.
Since beginning his ACCA journey in late 2024, Finn has found Eagle’s platform to be a perfect fit — balancing high-quality resources with the flexibility he needs to study around work and life. Now, he’s well on his way to achieving the financial literacy that will support his long-term goals.
Like many aspiring entrepreneurs, Finn knew that understanding finance would be key to running a successful business. That’s what drew him to ACCA in the first place. But finding the right study provider took a bit more thought.
“I looked into a lot of different options,” Finn says. “Other providers were charging a lot more for what seemed like similar content. Eagle stood out because it offered the same quality, including Kaplan resources, but at a much more manageable monthly subscription.”
Finn also appreciated Eagle’s flexible subscription options. “I liked that I wasn’t locked in for too long. There were monthly, quarterly and annual plans, so even if I decided to move on, I wouldn’t feel like I’d overcommitted.”
Finn works in a logistics company with varying hours, so his study schedule isn’t always predictable. What he needed was a course that could adapt to his life — not the other way around.
“I do a lot of my revision during quieter periods at work,” he explains. “The fact that Eagle is laid out in a week-by-week format makes it really easy to keep track of where I am. Even if I miss a week, I can come back, see what’s left to complete, and pick up where I left off.”
That flexibility has been key to maintaining a balance between work, study and personal life. “Eagle doesn’t overwhelm you with content. It’s broken up into manageable sections, so you still have time for yourself. I think that’s why I’ve been able to stick with it.”
One of the biggest advantages Finn has found with Eagle is how well the learning platform is structured.
“Everything’s split into sections and clearly laid out, which makes it really easy to use. The site isn’t cluttered or complicated — it’s straightforward and you know exactly what to do next. That ease of use is honestly one of Eagle’s best features.”
While Finn hasn’t yet explored all the support features Eagle offers — like tutor Q&As and forums — he sees them as tools he might tap into more as his studies progress.
“I’ve been focused on self-study so far, but I know the support is there if I need it. That’s reassuring, especially with some of the trickier topics.”
Finn’s goal isn’t to stay in finance long-term — it’s to use his financial knowledge to support future business ventures.
“My plan isn’t to become an accountant. It’s to become a business owner with a solid financial background,” he says. “Accountants are the ones who keep businesses running smoothly behind the scenes, and I want that same understanding for myself. I want to be able to make informed decisions without relying on someone else.”
Even though the ACCA journey is long and challenging, Finn knows it’s worth it. “By the time I finish, I might not remember every single detail, but I’ll have enough knowledge to make confident decisions, avoid outsourcing everything, and ultimately run a successful business.”
Reflecting on his experience so far, Finn admits that the exams have been tougher than expected. “The biggest surprise has been how difficult the ACCA questions are—not because I don’t know the material, but because of the way the questions are asked. It really forces you to think critically and understand what’s being asked, not just repeat facts.”
But challenges aside, he’s glad he chose Eagle. “I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The content is thorough, it’s easy to follow, and it fits around my life. I’ve even used gamified tools alongside Eagle to keep things interesting.”
If Finn had to sum up his experience in one sentence? “It’s just easy — easy to use, easy to follow, and easy to stick with.”
And when you’re an aspiring entrepreneur juggling work, study, and life, that simplicity makes all the difference.
Whether your goal is to become a qualified accountant or, like Finn, to use financial knowledge as a stepping stone to launching your own business, Eagle can help you get there.
