You don't need a Uni Degree to be an Accountant!
Traditionally, it's expected that a University Degree will provide the best opportunities for successful careers. However, in the accounting profession, the vocational route is a highly regarded route and often preferred.
Lee Webster from LBW Accountants Ltd provides a perfect example of a school leaver that can:
- Qualify as an Accounting Technician (level 2 - 4) following the AAT Qualification Route
- Qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant - ACCA (level 5 - 7)
- Be paid a good salary whilst gaining priceless work experience
In the same period of time it takes for a student to qualify with a degree.
Lee runs a successful accounting practice and actively recruits people holding the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications, as well as supporting new recruits to gain the qualification, as he says it adds immense value to his growing business.
Even the biggest accounting firms in the world promote the vocational route into the profession to help young people get off to a flying start. Check out PWC Career Paths
